The car uses a four wheel-drive Haldex generation IV system, coupled with a Independent Shifting Rod 7-speed gearbox. The gearbox, described by Lamborghini as providing "the world's most emotional gearshift feel" is super-fast - using dual shifting rods it can change gear 50% faster than a comparable dual-clutch set-up. It also helps keep the Roadster's weight down - the ISR weighs just 79kg.
The car has been described by AutoCar magazine as "the sort of car Batman might drive on his day off", and with those sharp lines it's easy to make comparisons to the futuristic Batmobile. The Roadster is however, much more elegant, and it displays a breathtaking precision of design throughout a length and breadth that dominates any road. Lamborghini designer Filippo Perini took inspiration from both the natural and aviation worlds when designing the original Aventador: specifically green beetles, the F-22 Raptor, and the B-2 stealth bomber. These influences can be seen in the uncompromisingly sharp silhouette as well as the car's symmetry, which is accentuated by those trademark hexagons throughout the bodyshell. Our model comes in brilliant white, which really allows the design features to shine through. The body is comprised of a carbon fibre monocoque with aluminium front and rear frames. To enhance the car's aerodynamics, the Aventador Roadster features an integrated rear wing, which extends when needed at mid-high speeds. When extended, air pushes down on the wing and creates downforce, which allows the engine to be used efficiently and gives the tyres better grip.
The Roadster's roof consists of two carbon fibre panels that weigh just 3kg each. To remove the roof, you simply unlock a few latches, lift them off and store them in the boot beneath the car's bonnet. Perfect for those fleeting moments when sunshine appears in the UK!
The Roadster features a different hood from the coupe because of its 'central spinal column'. On the rear of the Roadster, two hexagonal windows, connected at the sides, cool the engine, provide a run-off point for rainwater and allow everyone to see the V12 in all its dramatic glory.
Inside the dark, sophisticated interior, the eye is immediately drawn to the centre console, which contains the all-important start/stop button as well as most of the car's controls. GPS features prominently at the top. The steering wheel features perforated leather for better grip, which you'll need when you're taking those corners at high speed, and an electronic dashboard display that gives you essential performance data in high-definition graphics. The bucket seats are covered in soft black Sabia Nefertem leather that is exclusive to the Roadster, and proves that comfort and high performance really can go together.
Despite looking like a pared-down, performance-hungry sportscar, the Aventador Roadster is packed full of technology to make the driver's experience better. As well as sat nav, the Aventador Roadster offers features such as parking sensors, electric seats, climate control, blue-tooth and iPod connectivity. Coupled with the exceptional power and beauty of this car, there really is no excuse for not enjoying the ride!

Ferruccio Lamborghini, who owned a very successful tractor company in northern Italy, founded Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. after a spat with Ferrari. Ferruccio loved luxury cars, but was disappointed to discover that, when the clutch in his Ferrari broke, it was the same as the ones he used in his tractors. When he asked for a better replacement, however, Ferrari told him that - because he was a tractor-maker - he had no idea what he was talking about. Galvanised by this rejection, Lamborghini set up a sportscar manufacturing company to build the high-quality cars that he himself would want to drive. One of his main aims was to use an engine that was suitable for the road, rather than a repurposed track engine as was used in the Ferraris of the time. Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A was incorporated in 1963, and their first consumer car was the 350GT, which was launched at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show to positive reviews. The subsequent years, however, were not kind to the company and, after Ferruccio Lamborghini sold his stake in 1974, the company went bankrupt in 1978. Receivership proved to be the company's salvation. Investment, then acquisition by Chrysler followed, allowing Lamborghini to begin working on exciting new cars including the Lamborghini Diablo - which was launched in 1990 as the fastest car in production in the world. Speedy sales of the stunning and unusual Diablo reversed Lamborghini's fortunes, and after it was acquired by Audi AG it went on to produce the Murciélago, Gallardo, Aventador and most recently the Huracan - all iconic sportscars that have a deserved place in the supercar hall of fame. Lamborghini is now a byword for power, speed and luxury - these cars are envied wherever they go and if you choose our Lamborghini Aventador Roadster rental service you'll find out exactly why.
