Jewellery designer Jade Jagger and US singer Eve brought extra glamour to the proceedings as a host of super cars set off on the the 3,000-mile trip from London's Pall Mall. Eve, who is part of a team of all-female drivers in Signature’s Bentley convertible GTC, said: "We are representing for the whole female race. This is a boys' club for sure, but I love that we broke into the boys' club." She donned a figure-hugging leopard print outfit for the event, but swapped her towering wedges for flat boots before getting behind the wheel.

The Wire star Idris Elba has revved his engines in Signature’s Aston Martin DB9 Volante to kick off the Gumball 3000 2010 along side movie actor Michael Madsen. 

The 12th annual rally this year takes in Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Stockholm, where cars are flown to North America.

The next leg includes Boston, Quebec and Toronto before finishing in New York's Times Square.
