"The Audi Q3 is a compact, classy and high-quality crossover that rivals the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA" - CARBUYER
Built in a Spanish factory to German specifications, the Audi Q3 is a globetrotting, cosmopolitan SUV that can take you anywhere and everywhere. With bags of character, strong performance and immense practicality, it's no wonder that the previous model of the Q3, launched in 2011, sold over 400,000 units.
Rivalling other premium 4x4s like the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA, the Q3 feels like a high-quality machine throughout - something which more than justifies the car's hefty retail price. Impeccable Audi build quality is accompanied by heaps of safety equipment, not to mention the prestige that comes with the four rings badge on the front of the vehicle.
Our special edition four-wheel drive model - favoured by automotive critics - comes with the top of the line diesel engine, sportier styling and a host of interior extras. It's a wonderful choice for smart business trips, long, adventurous drives and winter holiday travel.
The Audi Q3 offers an engaging, fun driving experience and genuine refinement thanks to solid design and engineering. This new version comes with an updated engine, offering 13.5% better fuel efficiency and more refined power delivery.
Under the bonnet is a 182bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesel (there is a less powerful 148bhp version), the most powerful diesel in the range. You can squeeze and impressive 51.4 mpg out of this engine and, thanks to it's connection to the seven-speed twin-clutch S tronic automatic gearbox, it'll push you from 0-62MPH in just 7.9 seconds.
Although the Q3 is a four-wheel drive SUV it hasn't turned its back on its hatchback roots, meaning that it's agile, powerful and fun to drive.
Thanks to its compact dimensions, excellent body control and strong grip, the handling is very well suited to even the trickiest of driving conditions - from winding country roads to crowded city streets. The driver is further aided by the excellent visibility on all lines of sight. Various steering modes are available, allowing you to adjust steering weight and throttle response to suit your preference.
The Q3 SE is perfect for long distance cruising thanks not only to its handling and performance but also to the fact that those inside the cabin are insulated from road, wind and engine noise, making for a relaxed driving experience.
The Audi Q3 is 4.39 metres from nose to tail: 3cm longer than the Range Rover Evoque. It's also 3cm shorter than the Evoque but a substantial amount wider, meaning that it has even more room inside.
Style wise the Q3 is unmistakeably an Audi, with a familiar profile and styling elements reminiscent of the larger Q7. Unlike the first incarnation of the Q3 this model has a more angular design for its large grille, and a satin silver trim that merges with the headlights.
Light housings are slim and elegant, holding xenon headlamps that are complemented by strobing indicators at the rear.
This S Line version has a sportier look than its sisters, with larger 18-inch alloys, sports bumpers and a lowered suspension. It also comes with a power-operated tailgate.
The interior of the five door, five seat Audi Q3 has a decidedly premium feel, particularly thanks to S Line upgrades that have added front sports seats embossed with Audi’s S line logo, as well as aluminium interior inlays and even higher quality fabrics.
Infotaiment is comprehensive, and delivered via a 6.5 inch screen that can be manually popped up from the dashboard. Bluetooth connectivity is available, and the system is pleasingly intuitive.
Other gadgets for the driver include stop/start technology, climate and cruise control, parking sensors, and automatic wipers and lights.
For passengers the leg and head room is truly luxurious - although they might be surprised as the car doesn't look much bigger than the average hatchback from the outside! Not only is there generous space inside, the elevated ride height makes getting in and out easy, even for the less athletic of passengers.
The cabin also feels bright and airy, and the storage space for passengers is both generous and practical. Behind them, meanwhile, there is 460 litres of boot space as well as a rolling load cover to boost access.
The Audi Q3 comes with six airbags and electronic stability control, alongside Audi's world-renowned build quality. The car was awarded a five-star Euro NCAP crash rating, as well as scores of 94% and 85% for adult and child occupant protection.
The Audi Q3 2.0 TDI Quattro S Line is a spacious, comfortable car that will impress passengers with its ride quality, luxurious interior and comfortable seating. Moreover, it also provides an enjoyable experience for the driver thanks to its refined handling, excellent body control and hatchback-like performance. Whether you need a presentable, reliable car for business trips or want to take your family on holiday in comfort, this Q3 is an excellent choice.
