2013 Porsche 911 Sees The Light Of Day

Porsche has just revealed online the most exciting additions to the next generation 911 line-up with its Carrera 4 all-wheel-drive Coupé and Cabriolet.

The most balanced all-rounder to join the portfolio of the elite 911 performers has just been unveiled by Porsche AG.  The all-wheel-drive member of the new 911 team has been revealed to breathless public online, ahead of its official début in the flesh at the Paris Auto Show next month.   This 991 generation has been received well in the spotlight since its launch at last year’s Frankfurt Auto Show.  Fans of the icon have praised its contemporary understanding of power, styling and agility.

Progressing these concepts even further are the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S Coupé and Cabriolet.  The transformation is completed thanks to the latest iteration of Porsche Traction Management.  Addition of PTM means that the cars have a rear-focussed layout and are infinitely capable year round regardless of season or road surface.  Apart from the benefit of maximum vehicle dynamics, PTM helps the car lose 143 lbs, be almost two inches wider at the back, and carry larger tyre dimensions.

As with their rear-wheel drive siblings, these 911s will be available with the 3.4 litre flat-six of 350 hp, with the 4S being equipped with the 3.8 litre flat six producing 400 hp.  Owners will be able to twin these engines with the seven-speed manual gearbox or the PDK gearbox option.  Further engineering manifests itself in the form of Adaptive Cruise Control and Sport Chrono Pack which results in automatic double-declutching during downward gear changes in Sport Plus mode.

Spectacular styling is obvious from the online press release with a strip of lighting which connects the rear lights being the underscore of performance for all who only glimpse the back of this awesome car as it disappears in front of them.  An optional sliding glass sunroof is available for a magnificent driving experience.

The cars will be available in showrooms from spring 2013 onwards.  Prices will not start under £60,000.
