Aston Martin Debuts the New 2016 DB9 GT at Pebble Beach

The new, mean-looking Aston Martin has been unveiled to the world at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week, which kicked off on 13th August and is also supported by brands such as Gulfstream, Louis Roederer and Sotheby’s.. Unsurprisingly, this striking car is already making waves, not least because it’s the most powerful DB9 ever created, boasting as it does a 6 litre V12 engine that produces 540BHP.

Although it may look vastly different to the traditional DB9, it still has all the elements of an Aston Martin: style, exquisite engineering and a sleek hint of luxury.  It’s certainly gone down well with those lucky enough to view it, although to be in that privileged group you had to be invited to exclusive viewings of the car during the Automotive Week. As well as a first glance at the DB9 GT, guests were also treated to an in depth look at the paradigm shifting DBX, which seeks to expand the marque’s range into the luxury GT crossover market and redefine excellence within that sector.

As if that wasn’t enough, they were also treated to a glimpse of the Aston Martin Vulcan, whose design language signals a shift in the marque’s aesthetic, and which features a 7 litre V12 that was designed in conjunction with Aston Martin Racing. The Lagonda Taraf was also present, making its North American debut, and wowed guests with its cutting-edge homage to the William Towns Lagonda of 1976.

As well as being exquisite examples of engineering, all these cars represent the start of Aston Martin’s ‘Second Century’ plan, which was announced by new CEO Dr Andy Palmer after his first 150 days in the role. This plan outlines the marque’s strategy for new product development, something that will be a key driver of growth and success for the next hundred years.
