Bentley is going to be 100 years old in 2019. As you might imagine, it’s already started planning its birthday celebrations, but what it’s contemplating might really surprise you.
While you would think Bentley would be planning a stately occasion to match the elegance of its cars, or perhaps a quiet tea party at home while it awaits its telegram from The Queen, the marque Is planning something a little more extreme. A lot more extreme, in fact.
There are rumours that Bentley will produce a $1 million+ hypercar to mark its big occasion in 2019, which is something of a mind-boggling proposition. These rumours are based on the fact that Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer told Top Gear that “I could imagine there is a space for a Bentley at around £1m,” AND that Durheimer is also the head honcho at Bentley. When you consider that there is already a team of mad scientists who worked their magic on the Continental GT3-R at Bentley’s disposal, a hypercar does start to seem a plausible reality.
At this stage we can only speculate, but this is a fascinating proposition and we can’t wait to see what happens in 2019.
