Details of the New RS 4 Avant Revealed by Audi

rs4-avant-frontThe new Audi RS 4 Avant world debut recently took place at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The current offering featuring the RS badge incorporates wondrous everyday functionality with remarkable performance which comes from the 2.9 TFSI engine which is capable of delivering 450PS and 600Nm of torque from the standard quattro drive.

Stephan Winkelmann, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH said “The Audi RS 4 Avant is our RS icon with an incomparable history. In common with all our RS models, it blends immense power output with superlative everyday utility.”

A Stunning Profile

This Audi RS 4 Avant is a fourth generation vehicle where inspiration has come from various motorsport details of the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO. Large air inlets with the classic RS honeycomb structure and the wide, flat Singleframe grille define the front aspect. Added emphasis comes from the wheel arches which are 30 millimetres wider when compared to the Audi A4 Avant thanks to the quattro blisters.

The rear profile feature the impressive RS-specific diffuser insert, the oval tailpipes of the RS exhaust system and the RS roof edge spoiler which make for an exceptional and impressive look. The Nogaro blue exterior colour is reminiscent of the Avant from 1999 which was the first generation of this high-performance vehicle. Impressive 19-inch forged aluminium wheels add to the finishing look.

As you would expect, Audi manage to impress with the power stats on this model. The V6 biturbo engine creates 450PS and a peak torque of 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft) – 170 Nm (125.4 lb-ft) which is more than the previous model, which is available across a broad engine speed range from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm. This powers the Audi RS 4 to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in a thrilling 4.1 seconds.

With a top speed of 155mph – with the optional RS dynamic package can achieve a top speed of 174mph – this Audi excites at every level. The power of the 2.9 TFSI biturbo is sent to the all-wheel drive via an eight-speed tiptronic with optimised ratios.

rs4-avant-dashThe standard-fit RS sport suspension places the Audi RS 4 Avant an extra 7 millimetres lower than the standard A4 with sport suspension and drivers can define their own individual personal driving experience using the standard dynamic handling system Audi drive select.

Racing Inspired Cockpit

The style of the Audi RS 4 Avant is defined by the stunning black interior. RS sport seats with optional honeycomb pattern, the flat-bottomed RS leather multifunction sport steering wheel and the shift gate and the illuminated door sill trims are all emblazoned with the RS logo. In the Audi virtual cockpit RS-specific displays indicate the g-forces, tyre pressures and torque. The styling packages gloss black; carbon with aluminium attachments and carbon with black attachments allow owners additional customisation options.
