Football Fans Meet Petrolheads in Fantastic Supercar Sale

After offering his customised Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Convertible DUB edition for auction earlier this year, it would seem that David Beckham is continuing to spring clean his fleet.

Almost half a million pounds worth of pre-loved cars will soon be up for sale, it has been announced, although exactly when and where are still unknown.  The profile of the former owner however is unlikely to make for a discreet sale.

It is reported that this motoring feast courtesy of Becks is to make room in his British home.  Added to which of course is the fact that he doesn’t actually get the chance to drive them, since he and Posh spend most of their time at their Los Angeles mansion these days.

The five cars are thus very likely to be low mileage models.  Since none of them are the Ford Escort he regularly drove to practice when at Old Trafford, they have not had much use when new or since.  Two Bentleys, a BMW 645, a Lamborghini Gallardo, and a Range Rover Sport present the portfolio of four-wheeled vehicles for sale.  Three Harley-Davidson motorcycles will also hit the market.

A real trader when it comes to cars, David Beckham certainly seems to want to taste all the models out there at least once in his life.  His collection has included everything from Bentleys and BMWs to Cadillacs and even a Hummer.  In 2005 his BMW M3 that he had owned since 1997 sold for £90,000, turning a tidy profit from the £44,000 purchase price.  Last year his Porsche 911 Carrera sold on eBay for £136,000.  It would seem that he truly has the Midas touch.

Obviously the Beckham enchantment isn’t just something bottled in Victoria’s perfumes.  Buying a Beckham-owned Beemer is certainly something of which many fans dream.  Whilst the Rolls-Royce offered for sale had been de-personalised to some degree, removing the trademark ‘23’ monogrammed onto the front seats, it is unknown if, or to what degree the current catalogue of cars was ever made bespoke, and if so, how much of the magic remains.

Whatever the degree of customisation or not, it is highly likely that theses cars will exceed their value and attract a premium all of their own.
