Ingenium Diesel Engine Introduced to the Discovery Sport

capability-range-roverFollowing its launch in September 2014, the new Discovery Sport has now been given an extra option – the innovative Ingenium diesel engine. According to Jaguar Landrover, this 2 litre four cylinder engine is “designed to deliver class-leading torque and power outputs, combined with excellent refinement, reduced CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption.” This makes the car one of the most efficient premium SUVs on the market, something that is becoming increasingly important to consumers. The TD4 180HP version of the engine, for example, delivers 139g/km and 53.3 mpg on the combined cycle.

technology-range-roverThe TD4, made from aluminium, features lightweight construction, with stiff cylinder blocks and decoupled injectors, which ensures low levels of vibration and noise intrusion, further enhancing the driver experience. Innovations reduce internal friction, and enhance performance.

versatility-range-roverYou’ll be able to spot the Discovery Sport models with Ingenium engines because they will display a blue Sport badge, and feature 18 inch low rolling resistance tyres. The special engines are manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover’s new state-of-the-art £500m Engine Manufacturing Centre in the West Midlands, which is set to produce 450,000 Ingenium engines each year. This volume is justified, as the company has already received more than 6,500 orders for the new Sport.
