The first Lamborghini Centenario Roadster is quite literally breath-taking. Sexy lines meet jaw dropping performance stats to produce this beast of a supercar.
The Sant’Agata Bolognese factory has been inspirationally bold with the technological features to produce a super sports car that is a futuristic rocket, created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini.
This model is the first of 20 units produced and is also the first to be delivered worldwide and represents the ongoing dedication of the House of the Raging Bull to develop innovative technologies and exclusive designs with unique and distinctive forms.
The open air version of Lamborghini’s latest one-off creation was launched to ardent supercar enthusiasts at Monterey Car Week in California. A performance driven model, this one-off open-top model is built on a carbon fiber monocoque frame with bodywork also in carbon fiber.
The highly responsive V12 multi point injection engine delivers 770 hp (566 kW) with maximum engine revs increased from 8.350 to 8.600 rpm. This power packed beauty can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and the Centenario Roadster’s top speed is more than 350 km/h.
This next level Roadster embodies a new design direction for Lamborghini with the emphasis on clean lines as ‘form follows function’ – true to Lamborghini’s traditional design ethos. The Centenario’s racy form features low overhangs in the front and rear creating a clean, sensuous, mono-body shape.
The interior, created by the Ad Personam program exclusively for the owner of the Centenario, echoes the colours of the exterior with the use of Nero Ade (black) leather and Alcantara upholstery, featuring yellow inserts and stitching.
Acknowledged for exploring new cutting edge colours, car designers at Centro Stile Lamborghini created a special exterior silver colour, called “Argento Centenario”, developed especially for this model. To achieve this signature matte effect, Lamborghini used a new high-tech process dissolving the metal while diluting and diminishing the appearance of the metal grain giving it a silky and rich exterior finish.
The interior is just as impressive with a subtle and luxurious brown “Terra di California”, with Bianco Polar leather inlays. Every detail has been lovingly cultivated to achieve the best engineering solution for an exceptional driving experience inside and out. This is achieved with the application of a channel located in the rear wall, in the back of the headrest so the air can flow effortlessly from the cabin towards the rear of the bonnet to minimize turbulence within the passenger compartment. The rear wing then benefits from additional aero-load for increased rear downforce.
