Lamborghini Hypercar Debut at Monterey

Lamborghini-Super-Trofeo-15-The 65th Montery Car Week, which is billed as the ‘most important celebration of automotive heritage in the world’ may sound like a load of PR bluster but its round of car auctions now sells almost half the world’s most valuable cars.

It’s therefore a logical place for brands to launch high value concepts like Lamborghini’s new hypercar to a private audience, before potentially unveiling it to us mere mortals at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show, particularly as it’s stuffed with trade buyers keen to acquire the next big thing.

lamborghini-veneno-official1MotorTrend report that this new hypercar, which follows on from the likes of the Reventon and the Veneno, will have a limited production run and cost in excess of $1 million. Rumours suggest that the car will be based on the 12 cylinder Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV (which is coming to Signature car Hire soon!), with more power and a more aerodynamic, lighter body than on the SV.

lamborghini-veneno-roadsterIt’s set to be developed at Lamborghini’s dedicated prototype development centre, opened a few years ago, and is expected to be offered in both coupe and roadster versions. Although we won’t get to see any further details yet – security at the Monterey private previews is notoriously strict – it’s still a significant development, as previous hypercars have paved the way for next generation standard Lamborghini models. The Reventon, for example, was the forerunner for the hugely popular Aventador.

We eagerly await further news of this latest hypercar from Lamborghini , and we can’t wait to see what it looks like!
