Refreshing news from McLaren tells us of an impending Spider release of the McLaren MP4-12C. On the back of their earlier news about upgrades to this supercar, the summer is certainly looking up.
As we look forward to sunnier skies, we can also look forward to an open-top version of the MP4-12C. Confirmation was received recently revealing some initial details and a teaser image of what the forthcoming MP4-12C Spider would look like, in deep scarlet. Given that this is only the second ever model from the company, it is thrilling news indeed, even if details are a little sparse. It is certainly a tease, but McLaren did promise further information to follow. As this is just a few weeks after their announcement that the MP4-12C Coupe has been enhanced with an additional 25 bhp, we can certainly believe their pledge.
In order to appease our thirst for knowledge, they published the press release with some words from Jensen Button. Inspiring us to eagerly hold our breaths, he indicated what he thought we could look forward to from the Roadster. He said that “you feel more part of the world, without a roof. It makes you smell every second you’re driving it. Getting the fresh air, you hear every single noise that comes from inside the car but also from outside of the car. When you get a balance that suits you and you feel a part of that car, it’s just phenomenal. You feel every bump in the road. You know exactly what’s going to happen next when you enter a corner if you apply that percentage of brake or that percentage of throttle. You definitely feel more at one when there is no roof. It just feels a lot more natural. You smell the tyres, you smell the brakes, and you smell the car. It really makes you feel part of that car.”
