If engine noise be the fuel of love, play on… Top Gear’s website is currently hosting an indulgently long video of the new Mercedes AMG GT3 hurtling around the Nurburgring. Watching isn’t necessary, just close your eyes and let the gorgeously throaty sound of a 6.2 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine wash over you.
The AMG GT3 is, of course, the track-only version of the popular AMG GT, with a few modifications to ensure it delivers exceptional performance. It has a six-speed sequential gearbox, a huge wing, wider track and bigger air intakes. Fans of the SLS GT3, its predecessor in the AMG customer sports programme, will know that they’re in for an exhilarating ride.
