Mercedes-Benz Continues to Grow at the New York Motor Show

The New York Motor Show brought with it yet another reveal from the Mercedes-Benz clan last week: the stunning new Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet. The drop-top will park alongside the likes of the brand new Mercedes-AMG C43 and Mercedes-AMG E43, making its showroom debut later on this year.

The model will be available as both the C63 and an even fruitier C63 S, both utilising the C-Class Saloon 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and the infamous seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The C63 will flaunt a 469 BHP ride, and if that is not enough, the C63 S will pip it to the post with 503 BHP.

All models will feature adaptive damping with AMG Ride Control as standard, ensuring a luxuriously comfortable drive as expected of the brand, even when combined with a powerful sports performance. The exhaust system is a firm favourite feature of ours – it has been tuned specifically for the C63, and uses flat technology for a “sonorous bass tone’’; such are the specifications of these beautifully crafted Mercedes-Benz models which can truly set them apart from the rest. Of course, an optional Performance exhaust can be chosen as an addition to the car, resulting in an amplified sound at the push of a button.

While both the C63 and C63 S are limited to 155 MPH, both marques will reach 60 MPH within just 4.2 seconds. An impressive statistic, and one we are eager to test!

The latest C-Class has already been termed the baby S-Class, and the new Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet is almost certainly a baby S-Class Cabriolet when it comes to style. The standard car will include 18-inch AMG wheels, flared wheel arches, a front splitter and a spoiler to deflect air intake. A single crease runs down the side from front to rear, chrome plated exhausts sit at the back, while a narrow boot spoiler complements the rear.

Purchasers can customise the look of their new car through a black, brown, blue or red roof, which has also been worked to form a quieter, fully automatic folding roof.

Seat yourself inside the cabin of the C63 Cabriolet and you will notice the design of the new C-Class Coupé has been lifted and transferred in its entirety; optional extras will include the arguably vital Airscarf, which can potentially ensure top-down driving all year round.

Undoubtedly, the new C-Class Cabriolet was an exciting announcement, but the Mercedes-AMG C63 has got us quaking with anticipation; it promises a thrilling ride performance and would certainly form an ideal Performance Car Hire option…even an Everyday Car Hire option.
