Car lovers who like seeing sports cars on the big screen will like what Mini has been up to. The car company, which is the modern embodiment of John Cooper’s pioneering vision, has made a themed film to celebrate the cult film ‘The Italian Job.’ Named ‘The Britalian Job’, this themed film has people interested to see what it is about. The short film is in anticipation of the Olympics and judging by the Euro 2012 games that just happened, it’s bound to have even more of an impact, except this time, it is good news for us.
The themed film offers a frenetic and highly charged look at why the MINI cars have stayed in popularity across the decades and through their various incarnations. This new short film is rooted firmly in the future though and the makers of the film called upon athletic heavyweights such as Olympians Daley Thompson and Matthew Pinsent, with the help of supermodel Jodie Kidd.
The 5 minute long film also references key aspects of the original film that featured Michael Caine such as Minis coming from the Park Lane area that Caine’s character was in. Olympic rowing medallist James Cracknell was commissioned with performing a stunt in the film and enjoyed the experience. ‘It was great fun making this film and London makes such a brilliant setting for an action sequence like this’, Cracknell said. The Britalian Job mini-film shows off just why London was chosen to host the 30th Olympiad.
