New Audi S5 Cabriolet Spotted Testing

The Audi A5 is providing drivers near and far many happy motoring miles; Signature Car Hire alone know the popularity of our very own Audi A5, part of our Everyday Car Hire fleet, which is a pillar of strength, tenacity and comfort within our Experience Centre. Of course, as all self-drive enthusiasts do, we have been eagerly awaiting further details of the Audi S5 Cabriolet since the brand’s official announcement of it’s planned release, and are excited to present the first spy pictures of the Marque, which has been spotted testing for the first time.

Whilst most details are still tightly under Audi’s wraps following the Paris Auto Show last year, the new Audi S5 Cabriolet is likely to come equipped with subtly revised exterior styling and the latest infotainment system…not to forget the soft-top roof. Headlights and taillights will both receive the facelift treatment, both flaunting LEDs and benefiting from a restyle sporting more defined edges and sharper cuts. The chrome grille will be redesigned, as will the lower air intakes in the bumper, now coming equipped with new, gloss-free black inserts. While changes are not dramatic on the Audi S5 Cabriolet, the brand aims for the car to appear sportier through its added width and closeness to the road.

The fabric roof adds a whole new dimension to the S5; mimicking the hard top in terms of positioning and the way in which it folds away, the Audi S5 Cabriolet exhibits a front-to-back equality, forming a car of beautiful craftsmanship. When the roof is down, the car takes on a “torpedo” like shape – fitting as it engages with the road and demonstrates its high-performance capabilities.

We are led to believe that the drop-top, high-performance variant of the Audi A5 will run off of the same petrol engine as is in the Audi S4. The S4 produces 349 BHP from the V6 3.0-litre turbo, allowing the driver to experience a very healthy push of power at every turn and stretch of road. We are biting our lips in anticipation to discover the performance of the same engine in the Audi S5.

The Facelifted S5 is also expected to exchange the current gearbox to five-link suspension set-ups, as well as being lighter in weight than its predecessors. After shedding weight, we hope power outputs, performance and speed should increase.

Similarly to Mercedes-Benz and their overhaul of the C-Class range earlier this year, Audi plan to transform their range of A5’s and S5’s, adding Coupé and Sportback versions of the car to the current A5 and S5. Delightfully, an Audi RS5 is rumoured to also join the range at some point in the future – what a beauty that will be. It seems the S5 Cabriolet will be the last to hit showrooms next year.

Elegance and simplicity are the defining features of our Audi Car Hire fleet, and we are sure the same character will continue into the coming years additional cars to the range. We look forward to testing the limits of each vehicle as it hits the road.

Until then, be sure to visit Signature Car Hire and rejuvenate the thrill of driving in one of our luxury high-performance cars; whether your choice lies in our 4×4 Car Hire fleet or our relished Performance Car Hire fleet, waste no time in Making your Marque with Signature Car Hire.
