Rolls Royce Wraith

Rolls-Royce WraithDescribed by car fanatic and radio DJ Chris Evans as ‘the most powerful Rolls ever produced’, the Wraith has certainly made an entrance into the automotive world. Although it’s a behemoth, as you’d expect from this marque, it’s also an eminently driveable car that offers you just as much fun behind the wheel as it does in the back seat.

The car has many similarities in exterior design to the Rolls Royce Ghost, but it’s the sporty touches that set it apart: a faster back, a lower roofline, a shorter wheelbase and a wider chassis. The result is that it corners surprising well for a Rolls, yet doesn’t loose any of that effortless smoothness of ride for which the cars are so prized. It’s also a lot quicker than the Ghost, as it contains a 6.6-litre V12 twin-turbo engine that produces 624bhp and can take you from 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds. Yes, you did read that right.

The interior is just as impressive. Featuring suitable amounts of leather, soothingly deep carpets and gorgeous wood, it screams luxury – or it would do if screaming wasn’t a very inelegant thing to do. Critics are divided on whether the perforated roof lining, which comes with thousands of fibre optic ‘stars’ is a dramatic feature or too overt for a luxury car – but it certainly makes an impression. More subtle are lots of brilliant luxury features, such as the umbrellas that are packed in secret pockets within the car’s wings, which can be released at the touch of a button.

The Rolls Royce Wraith really has to be seen to be believed. If you want to be the first to do so you won’t have to wait long, as this stunning new car will be coming to the Signature Experience Centre in London in 2014.
