A swansong piece of publicity from the Pebble Beach Concours d’Élegance provides us with audio pleasure that can only come from a Lamborghini.
It would seem that this final piece of footage from Pebble Beach has kept the best until last. Given that one of the best aspects of a Lamborghini is the legendary howl, the latest online video clip gives Lamborghini lovers everywhere a feast for the senses.
The Sesto Elemento is Lamborghini’s newest exploit and this film clip captures it in all its glory. Until now we have been limited to seeing the Sesto Elemento with static teasers. This short film however lets us indulge in everything that the car has to offer, everything that mounts up to the £1.3m price tag. Only twenty of these cars will be produced so exclusivity is certainly built into the price. But the clip adoringly showcases both visual and aural cues of the limited edition supercar.
Since to hear a Lamborghini is to love one, the cameraman gives us three opportunities to hear the explosion that that is the Sesto Elemento ignition. It is without doubt a turn on of which you wish to be part. We get to see the car in motion as well, as it appears to hover just above the road surface. The car is so low that there appears be simply a cushion of air between its beautiful bodywork and the ground.
The Sesto Elemento is certainly an aspirational car. It is edgier than all the rest of the Lamborghini stable and that is stiff competition indeed. It has however borrowed the 570 hp 5.2 litre V10 engine from the Gallardo and so retains its big brother status. This results in a 0-62 mph sprint of only 2.5 seconds.
A car that is a sibling to the Gallardo, the Audi R8 V10 provides a more much more tangible experience of this legendary 5.2 litre V10 engine. Granted the car may ‘only’ boast 525 bhp, but at least you can get behind the wheel of one. Given that this amount of power is sufficient to take the car to 62mph from standing in just 3.9 seconds, it is certainly no poor cousin.
Our R8 V10 even has something that not even the Sesto Elemento, let alone the Gallardo, possesses. After a rigorous R & D programme courtesy of tuning experts Milltek, our car has been equipped with a bespoke stainless-steel high-performance race exhaust system. Boosting power output by 25 bhp you will certainly not find this car wanting. Better torque is also provided at all levels in the rev range. For a unique experience, there is unquestionably nothing better on which you can lay your hands.
