The Aventador rides again
Forgotten the Aventador in all the excitement about the Huracan? This news might make you think again – a more powerful Aventador S is due to arrive in 2017, complete with visual upgrades and performance improvements. As the car was originally introduced in 2011 it’s certainly time for a little facelift, and critics are expecting more power and better tech features alongside a more aggressive body.
Something old and something new at Aston Martin
Two exciting bits of news from Aston this month. First off it’s been revealed that the car known as Aston Martin Red Bull AM-RB 001, a limited edition which is unsurprisingly sold out, can do a whopping 402km/h. That’s over 250MPH in English money, and makes it the fastest Aston Martin ever.
Second, and just in time for Christmas, the marque have released a limited run of 25 new DB4 Gts. Made in the same factory as the famous original, 2018-aston-martin-red-bull-am-rb-001these replica cars will be ‘continuation’ models that look exactly the same on the outside but have a suite of technological and engineering upgrades inside. Owners will even get instructions from Le Mans winner Darren Turner to ensure they can get the most from their new old vehicle.
Spare a moment for supercar enthusiasts in China
Did you know that if you buy a supercar in China you have to pay 35% import tariff, 17% value added tax, a variable emissions tax and a 10% purchase tax? If that already makes your wallet hurt then brace yourself – the country has just introduced a further 10% tax premium on cars that cost over 1.3m yuan (£151k). Ouch!! They’ve introduced it to try to discourage lavish spending, emissions and, we assume, the sight of anything beautiful on their streets.
