The Grand Début of LaFerrari

Good things come to those who wait and this is definitely true in the case of Ferrari fans. At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Italian marque showed off the LaFerrari. Billed as the successor to the Enzo, the car has already whetted the appetite of the industry for new fresh ideas from Ferrari. This car is seen as the new hypercar from the company and with the numbers it has, it’s no surprise that it is almost sold out.

The engine is a 6.3 litre V12 showstopper that can produce with a maximum ability to produce 950 horsepower. The average is 789 horsepower which is powered through this strong engine and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The innovation of the LaFerrari is shown through the inclusion of electric technology in the powertrain. This helps the supercar go from 0 – 60 mph in the blink of an eye which in the supercar world for this car is less than 3 seconds. The top speed is said to be over 217 mph.

The LaFerrari cleared a lap at Fiorano in 1:20 which is better than any of its predecessors such as the Enzo, the F12 and the 458 Italia. There are 499 models to be sold and the flurry of attention from the Geneva Motor Show is bound to finish in a successful result for Ferrari. The aerodynamics of the car are said to be sharp and strong which makes the car a seamless ride especially thanks to aggressive styling on the exterior of the car.

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Ferrari’s president, said: “We chose to call this model LaFerrari because it is the maximum expression of what defines our company – excellence.” If this is what they were aiming for, it definitely seems like it has been achieved because of the magnitude that the LaFerrari has from its exterior, interior and performance.
