Will Lamborghini’s Next Car be Developed Outside of Italy?

News about Lamborghini developing a Gallardo in Germany is making the rounds as the company seems to indicate that this might happen.  Many enthusiasts know that Lamborghini is owned by German car giant, Volkswagen through a complex structure. However, there is news that development for cars will be streamlined into one structure in Germany.

It is believed that the Volkswagen Group wants to take advantage of economies of scale by sharing the work to develop the successor to the Gallardo as well as the new models from brands like Audi and Porsche. It is not uncommon for brands within group automotive companies to share components and staff.  One thing that Lamborghini enthusiasts were worried about when Volkswagen bought Lamborghini is whether the Italian flair and personality will be retained. Judging by the stunning examples of Lamborghini’s work since the acquisition like the Aventador, the charisma of Italian motoring has been retained.

If the centralisation of Lamborghini’s next car is going to have more influence from the Volkswagen Group, Lamborghini will have to make it clear that it is a purely Italian car that is being made without losing any of its rich heritage that makes it a favourite across the world. The one feature that won’t change is the engine which is a V10 in a mid-mounted position. If the new Lamborghini features this engine, it’s definitely a good start for the next model’s future.
