The best things don’t always come in threes. The new BMW 4 Series is a supremely assured, stylish range of vehicles that has a tremendous allure for a wide variety of people. In particular, the BMW 4 Series Convertible, launched a year after the Coupe, has an unmistakeable dynamic flair all its own. Exuding an exciting sportiness yet also offering bucketloads of ride comfort and versatility, this car is a great choice for all seasons.
Particularly exciting features of the BMW 420D M Sport Convertible we have for hire are its cruising abilities, its exceptionally comfortable interior and of course its folding roof that, when open, creates an elegant ‘boat deck’ feel at the rear. Our glossy white BMW 4 Series Convertible hire car is sleek, stylish and still beautifully practical and has been called the ‘epitome of pure freedom’ by its manufacturers, and as soon as you set off on your journey you’ll begin to see why.
Our gleaming white convertible comes with a potent 420D two litre diesel engine that delivers excellent performance alongside enviable fuel economy. As a further bonus it’s also surprisingly quiet, meaning that the ride quality remains pleasant even with the top down. The engine is coupled to a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox which offers seamless transitions and an easy driving experience.
This Sports model is certainly no slouch, producing a 0-60 time of 7.3 seconds despite also offering a whopping 55.4 miles to the gallon. Handling is superb and easily better than any of its rival cars – but what else would you expect given BMW’s engineering pedigree? Despite its speedy credentials, however, this is first and foremost a cruising car, one with a stability and fluidity that make even long-distance driving a joy.
The cruising abilities of this excellent convertible are further enhanced by a raft of helpful features for the driver. Cruise control, anti-lock brakes and stability controls are further augmented by a lane-departure system and the anti-fatigue warning, all ensuring that you stay fully in command of the vehicle no matter what the situation.
Practical features include six airbags, climate control and 220 litres of boot space – or 370 with the top down. For chillier days there are not only heated seats but also neck warmers to keep you utterly toasty.
Hire our stunning white BMW 420D M Sport Series convertible and you’re guaranteed a comfortable journey with excellent handling and plenty of sporty thrills. With four seats and excellent ride quality this is a car you can use to take friends or family for a special treat, or simply show your work colleagues who’s top dog.
The folding roof makes this car a great option for the warm summer months, while its long-range cruising capabilities also mean you can head across Europe to chase the sunshine when the mood strikes you.
Peek inside our BMW 420D M convertible and you’ll see an array of upgraded details add to the cabin’s exclusive, high-quality feel. The surrounds for the air outlets, for example, now include electroplated inserts, matching the activation switch for the hardtop roof. In addition, the centre console makes an even more elegant impression thanks to its high-gloss black cover panel, while double stitching on the instrument panel accentuates the interior’s driver-focused geometry.
The M designation on this BMW 4 Series gives you a desirable suite of extras, including an ergonomic 8.8-inch display screen with sat-nav which has been upgraded to the latest software. Fabrics are sumptuously soft and this black interior looks effortlessly chic from both front and rear seat positions. The front seats’ low, sporty arrangement also make for a more thrilling ride.
As Oliver Heilmer, Head of Interior Design BMW Automobiles, says: “The interior of the BMW 4 Series family delights with its own unique blend of sportiness and elegance. There is the distinctly sporty flair of the driving environment and then there are the high-class materials and long, graceful lines greeting the occupants in both the front and rear.”
Many of this car’s styling cues come from BMW’s bombshell concept car unveiled in 2012, which featured eye-catching design elements such as hexagonally shaped full-LED headlights and a large air intake with prominent bars.
The most obvious change is the restyled nose of this convertible BMW, which creates a more dynamic flow to the car. Combining crisp contours with expansive surfaces, and featuring a prominent unbroken central air intake which flutes outwards at the ends, the front end exudes sportiness. The air intake is further enhanced on this Sport model by a high-gloss bar which accentuates the vehicle’s wide, powerful stance.
The rest of the car has a low, energetic look that features bold horizontal lines and muscular wheel arches. Redesigned rear lights, now complete with a sweeping curve in the outer section to better fit with the new design cues, complete the picture. Overall the impression is of sophistication coupled with barely restrained power.
The key difference on this model in the 4 Series is, of course, the folding metal roof which can be lowered in just 20 seconds. Thanks to the sturdy design of this roof, it not only suppresses noise successfully but also offers a more robust security than some soft-top options.
We love the glossy white coat of our gorgeous convertible, which gives it a fresh, sporty appearance.
