Bruce McLaren founded Bruce Mc Laren Motor Racing in 1963. Hi passion for cars led him to start his own company so he could develop and race sports cars together with his commitment as a driver in the Cooper Grand Prix team. He arrived in the UK with the Driver To Europe which was launched to encourage antipode drivers to compete with the most experienced drivers in the world. Bruce was no ordinary driver and won the 1959 US Grand Prix when he was just 22 years old.
McLaren entered its first Formula 1 race in 1966 and won its first Grand Prix at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium in 1968. In Formula 1, McLaren’s champions had always made history: drivers like Emerson Fittipaldi and James Hunt created many headlines on the front pages, while Niki Lauda and Alain Prost are remembered for turning the sport into science and not forgetting Ayrton Senna’s burning intensity which will live forever.
