New Audi Q2 Crossover Due to Hit Showrooms Later This Year

signature-car-hire-audi-q2-crossover-11The smallest model in Audi’s ‘Q’ range has been announced as the new Audi Q2, adding to the stiffly competitive market of the crossover SUV ranges; we at Signature Car Hire think it would make the perfect Everyday Car Hire, so here we have the latest details in potential preparation.

The Audi Q2 entry level model will be fitted with a 1.0-litre TFSI petrol engine and a six-speed manual gearbox, equipped with the MMI multimedia infotainment system as standard, along with 16-inch alloy wheels and heated and electrically adjustable mirrors. Upgrade to the ‘Sport’ trim and receive larger alloy wheels, adjustable driving modes, cruise control, auto lights and wipers, and sports seats. Upgrade again and sport the S-Line, which focuses on far sportier styling details, along with even bigger alloy wheels, LED head and tail lights and a brushed aluminium interior. The range continues all the way to a 2.0-litre TDI with Quattro-all-wheel drive. Overall, the range will offer four engines, 1.0 and 1.4-litre petrols, and 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesel engines, with power outputs ranging from 113bhp to 148bhp.

Audi has described the new Q2 as it’s ‘Trojan Horse’, a first-time Audi buyer’s car which will form an attachment between the customer and the brand and appeal to the younger market through the extensive choice of colourful trims and finishes. There will be 12 body colours available when the car is launched, as well as a hugely variable list to customise the interior of the car, including a possible two-tone roof and coloured dash inserts – a clear retort to the accusation that all Audi’s are doused in grey, black or blue only. The overall design brief, in fact, was to join the A1 as opposed to other cars within the range, while remaining unmistakably Audi-like.

The Q2 can also feature, if chosen, variable damping and a 10mm lower sports suspension kit. Of course, for those real petrol heads, we expect both an ‘S’ and an ‘RS’ model to follow soon after the Audi Q2 hits showrooms, flaunting highly tuned turbocharged engines we have all come to know and love.

Inside the new Audi Q2, the cabin has remained more familiar, similar to the Audi A3 but incorporating the latest technological features, such as the optional 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit display replacing the standard dials. The Q2 will now flaunt a new LED ambient lighting system, creating a luxurious feel inside and featuring different designs for day and night.

Indeed, the new Audi Q2 looks to become a quick hit on the roads, offering practicality, style and the latest technology all in one car.
