The Audi Q2 entry level model will be fitted with a 1.0-litre TFSI petrol engine and a six-speed manual gearbox, equipped with the MMI multimedia infotainment system as standard, along with 16-inch alloy wheels and heated and electrically adjustable mirrors. Upgrade to the ‘Sport’ trim and receive larger alloy wheels, adjustable driving modes, cruise control, auto lights and wipers, and sports seats. The range continues all the way to a 2.0-litre TDI with Quattro-all-wheel drive. Audi has described the new Q2 as it’s ‘Trojan Horse’, a first-time Audi buyer’s car which will form an attachment between the customer and the brand and appeal to the younger market through the extensive choice of colourful trims and finishes. There will be 12 body colours available when the car is launched, as well as a hugely variable list to customise the interior of the car, including a possible two-tone roof and coloured dash inserts – a clear retort to the accusation that all Audi’s are doused in grey, black or blue only. The overall design brief, in fact, was to join the A1 as opposed to other cars within the range, while remaining unmistakably Audi-like.
The Q2 can also feature, if chosen, variable damping and a 10mm lower sports suspension kit.
