25 years of Aston Martin

aston-logoAston Martin has had a rich and textured history that the industry and the public have watched at large. Let’s look through some of the most exciting moments of the past 25 years of Aston Martin. Aston Martin has been independent for many years and this has created a sense of trend-setting that is unseen in other car makers. Looking back, the Virage shows Aston Martin’s commitment to doing things differently. The Virage was handmade but with the benefit of hindsight, Aston Martin has a come a long way since the heavy Virage was made.

The DB7
aston-martin-db7.Technology has supercharged the brand. Fast forward to 1993 when the DB7 was unveiled in Geneva, production started in 1994. The DB7 was lightweight and nimble. It had a six-cylinder powerhouse that was able to get drivers to feel like they were in total control of the car. This is because of the power of technology. The DB7 reignited interest in Aston Martin because of how the marque was able to marry less weight and style and performance together in one attractive package.

New era
The 2000s ushered in a new era for the fabled marque. A new era of course means new leadership. Dr Ulrich Bez came in to lead Aston Martin and brought with him new fresh ideas on what should be done to keep Aston Martin at the cutting edge of car manufacturing. The V12 Vanquish was unveiled in 2001. This iconic car had a 6.0 litre V12 engine that is still remembered by enthusiasts today as an engine that got the job done. Things improved for Aston Martin when more manufacturing was done at Gaydon. “Gaydon is the future of Aston Martin”, said Dr Ulrich Bez. A crowning moment of the Noughties for Aston Martin included when the DBS was featured in Casino Royale, the most profitable James Bond film ever made in the iconic franchise.
