New look Range Rover Evoque unveiled

2393124551273123872With involvement by the likes of Victoria Beckham, the Range Rover Evoque was destined to be the most self-consciously ‘pretty’ of all Land Rover’s cars.

It’s no surprise, therefore, that the unveiling of its latest incarnation has been awaited with great interest, and the ‘big reveal’ has certainly not been a disappointment.

The most immediate difference is the external modifications. The front fascia has been remodelled, making it look more like a traditional Range Rover whilst still retaining the distinctive Evoque sense of chic.

The air intakes, headlights and grille have been altered at the front, while the back now boasts a roof-mounted spoiler, new exhausts, bumper and diffuser.

Owners will have several choices as to what’s under the bonnet: there’s a 2 litre Ingenium turbodiesel for those who want to reduce their carbon emissions – quite drastically, for a car this size – or a more powerful, 178BHP turbodiesel and a 237BHP petrol engine are also on offer.

The latter is promised to do 0-62MPH in just 7.6 seconds.

A nine-speed transmission and all-wheel-drive system are standard across all options, while the suspension has also been improved.

The technology has also been upgraded inside the new Evoque. The infotainment system, featuring all Jaguar Land Rover’s brilliant innovations (such as app connectivity) will be accessible via an eight inch touchscreen, while the Active Driveline system uses torque vectoring and automatically switches you between two- and four-wheel-drive.

The new Evoque isn’t due out until 2016 but, as it’s the most popular Range Rover model, it will undoubtedly fly off the ‘shelves’.
