How Fast is the LaFerrari?

Just on looks alone, this car is already a legend. Where it’s lost brownie points amongst car enthusiasts, however, is on speed – or more exactly the fact that Ferrari have been very cagey about just how fast it can go. Despite repeated appeals, the marque won’t put it up against cars from other manufacturers, but they have at least invited Motor Trend down to their Italian test track to see how quickly their own car can move.

The LaFerrari shares its wheelbase and length with the Ferrari Enzo, so you’d think it’d be made for success in this area. Furthermore, its styling is the product of intensive aerodynamic testing, with curves and bumps that produce significant downforce when needed. What also helps is that the naturally aspirated V12 produces 950BHP, more than enough to send it racing around the track. Or the road – it’s the most powerful production car Ferrari have ever built.

As the marque themselves say: “The LaFerrari represents Ferrari’s most ambitious project yet to push the boundaries of technology on a road car, drawing together the finest expression of the marque’s technical capabilities in both GT and Formula 1 engineering.”

Ok, we’ve teased you long enough – exactly how fast is the car? Motor Trend ran a number of tests, including the 0-60MPH and the quarter mile, and produced some interesting results. The headline? The car does 0-60MPH in a mere 2.4 seconds, which is surely a result worth waiting for. Check out the full test here:
