The capital of China’s financial industry, Hong Kong, has just played host to a very special Gallardo. The car was designed to celebrate twenty years of the Italian supercar in the island state.
A twentieth anniversary is an auspicious occasion in anyone’s eyes. This is particularly the case when it concerns a marque of motoring prestige. The official dealer of Lamborghini in Hong Kong has just celebrated such a milestone. It was twenty years ago that the showrooms of Kingsway Cars first showcased this impeccable Italian supercar stable to the more fortunate on the island of Hong Kong.
A glittering event was held in the island twilight at the Cyberport Arcade to revel in the first twenty years of Lamborghini’s success in Hong Kong. It truly was a case of ‘born on the fourth of July’ as the special audience congregated that evening to mark two decades of Lamborghini exclusivity in the Asian financial hub. Special guests, enthusiasts and some very special cars attended. The queue to enter the car park for the party was certainly a line of Gallardos, Murcielagos and of course an Aventador or two.
Also in attendance was one particular guest of note. Gracing the gathering with its presence, and indeed a focal point for the evening, was the limited edition Gallardo LP550-2, brought into being to commemorate the anniversary. The star of the show was specially commissioned for the twentieth year watershed. The gold-trimmed car reflected all the worth of this wealthy oriental location.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Hong Kong Twentieth Anniversary Edition, to give it its full name, is draped in a Bianco Monocerus white livery, and underscored with bold gold Cordelia wheels. It is finished with golden stripes stretching from the middle of the bonnet along the centre of the roof, reminiscent of the touch of a dragon’s claw. A unique ‘HK20’ logo appears on the front and rear spoilers to further distinguish the car. Matte black finishes on these spoilers and on the side skirts yield a complementary contrast.
Inside the special edition, the ‘HK20’ badging continues; you will find it on the headrests and central console. Q-citura and Alcantara trim on the seats, central console and dashboard also differentiate this most individual of supercars. The distinction of the Gallardo HK20 Edition is however in feature only. The engine of the unique car remains the 5.2 litre V10. Since it already produces 550 hp, there seems no need to meddle with perfection.
Just eight of these will be produced, ensuring a true realisation of the value of a Limited Edition. At the equivalent of just over £300,000 this is certainly an object of investment as well as of beauty.
