Bespoke Bentley Zagato for a Truly Unique Drive

For those willing to pay for exclusivity, one of the latest deals may be just what they are looking for.  A Bentley dealership in San Francisco, USA has just advertised, via a recent posting on eBay Motors, the 2008 one-off Bentley Continental GT that was styled by Zagato.

The story begins in 2008, when legendary Italian design house Zagato partnered with Bentley to bespoke a unique edition of the Continental GT.  The styling collaborator took an already beautiful car and moulded a sculpture which showed off the best of this European union. The ensuing lovechild became the Continental GTZ.  Officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show that year, the concept was to have a production run of just nine exquisite cars.  It would seem that exclusivity was certainly there for the purchasers of this distinctive vehicle.

However, the price tag was also not your average Bentley budget.  Potential owners first had to pay 250,000 Euros for the standard Continental GT, and then buy the Zagato option at an additional 550,000 Euros.  Even in this price range, the sum of 800,000 Euros proved too much for most fans.   As a result, the current car on sale can be called truly unique.

Apart from being one-of-a-kind, the package on offer is astounding.  There can be no doubt about that Italian style, it is simply matchless.  Zagato’s trademark double-bubble roof is expertly crafted into the figure of the coupe.  The rounded rear end is something is something to behold with its curves and custom rear light clusters.  At the front, Xenon headlights and a chrome grill enhance the look.  The hand-painted pin-stripe outside even complements the tan leather seating and upholstery inside.

The immaculate interior is enhanced by superior quality leather, characterised by the Z insignia embroidered into the seats.  The leather continues, and the ceiling is lined with this beautiful hide.   10-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats complete the comfort.

The GTZ is certainly the un-identical twin of the Continental GT as it is also powered by the twin turbo 6.0 litre W12 engine.  Producing 600 bhp, this unit is controlled via the six-speed automatic gearbox.

This matchless car, being the ‘demo’ model, has just 870 miles on the clock, and one can just imagine that this hardly-driven, one-owner car, has been highly maintained. The Bentley Continental GTZ has a ‘Buy it Now’ price of $1.45 million, and it is thought that the dealer expects at least $1.1 million on auction.  Certainly a lot more than what you pay for a unique driving experience in a Bentley at Signature Car Hire.   We think you should ask yourself if you would pay this sort of money, in the region of £715,000, for a completely unique car, or take a short-term option on one of our cars and not have to break the bank?  Maybe it is a car you would like to see us offer for that one-off self-drive hire instead?  Let us know if this or any other incomparable beauties you have spotted should be part of our portfolio.
