A magnificent seven awaits the next-generation Mercedes-Benz as the car which epitomises the luxury and technology of this German marque is due for arrival.
With under a year to go until we see the release of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the attraction of this pinnacle of German engineering is still well in evidence. In its home market of Germany, as well as one of its most lucrative upcoming markets of China, the car is still at the forefront of its segment.
Renowned for wearing the highest specifications of innovative engineering and refined comfort, the forthcoming S-Class will take the model from strength to strength it seems. Up to seven different variants may be available. The four-door model will be available in four types: standard, long, extra-long and Pullman. There will also be a CL-Class Coupé, a CL convertible and a four-door Coupé larger than the current Mercedes CLS.
The platform for the cars will be based on the Mercedes Rear (RWD) Architecture, and will be lighter than the current one due to its blend of materials including steel, aluminium, and magnesium. The engine choice will include an entry-level 2.1 litre to the top-of-the-range S65 AMG performance powerhouse. Expect a hybrid variant as well.
Inside, a redesigned dashboard with two monitors, heads-up display, extended voice and gesture control allow the driver to cruise in comfort and safety. This will be abetted by other aids such as dynamic LED headlights, Magic Carpet Ride, brake assist with cross-traffic recognition, and active cruise control.
