The first chance to see the 2013 Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG, which we blogged to you about just last week, has arrived. Released by the German car maker, the starkly beautiful new Mercedes cabriolet is featured in this short video with some graphic footage.
Amidst the wonders of nature, the new Roadster appears as the cutting edge image of technology and grace. Backlit clouds, a rising sun, and a canyon pass in the early morning set the scene for the awakening of this free spirit. Emerging from its architecturally-designed garage, the car starts to attract attention as little by little, the viewer is teased with aspects and angles of its stylish exterior.
From a glimpse of the honeycomb engine vents underscored with chrome fins, to the front corners and light clusters, with angular running lights and horizontal highlights above the mesh front air intakes, the car starts to tempt. As ignition allows the car to purr into action, the shapely rear end also comes alive and we start to sense that something very exciting is to come.
The holistic picture of the car truly gets animated as we are rewarded with the V12 Biturbo in action. The feline confidence of the car takes to the road and warms up in the city and then shows what it is made of on the open road amongst limestone and graphite mountains. The 6.0 litre engine can produce 630 hp and 1000 nm of torque. With capability for a 0-62 mph dash of 4 seconds, the video allows us to get a feel for just what that would look like in reality.
Even the interior excites with its luxury take on the function and feel of a sports car. Clean lines and superior materials complete the look.
At the end of the video we again see that car in contemplative pose, against its minimalistic garage. We are left wondering if we just imagined what we saw or if it was a dream come true.
Short of attending the New York Auto show in April, this is as close as you can get to the latest Mercedes Benz.
