If you’ve already hired one of the Lamborghini Huracan cars from Signature, you will hopefully agree that they’re pretty flawless cars. Sleek, powerful and insanely fun to drive, they’re the car that everyone wants to be seen in. It couldn’t get any better, surely?
Well, apparently it can. Lamborghini haven’t been sitting around their factory and twiddling their thumbs since the Huracan was launched, they’ve actually been tinkering under the bonnet and made an even faster version – purely, perhaps, because speed is in their blood.
Enter the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, a staggering 40 kilos lighter than the standard coupe, with 40 extra horsepower, bringing it up to 640, plus even more torque. They’ve put this extra heft to good use, too – in October 2016 the Huracan Performante set a Nurburgring production car lap record of 6:52.01. This was probably helped by the fact that the car can do 0-62 MPH in 2.9 seconds, and has a top speed of almost 202 MPH!
The Performante’s extreme performance is aided by a system snappily named the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva – an aerodynamic system that caters for both high down force and low drag, depending on the circumstances. It controls air flaps at the front and back of the car and, thanks to an extra system called the Lamborgini Piattaforma Inerziale that controls the car’s electrics, the air flaps can even just been opened on one side of the car – meaning that you can corner more quickly and more stably.

Although you would imagine that the team spent days perfecting their technique and getting the fastest lap time possible, they were only granted a 15 minute slot on the famous track – meaning that they had just one attempt to beat the record! Lamborghini, we salute you.
