Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it will create 1,700 jobs in Solihull as part of its £1.5bn investment into new models and the marques that it produces. Dr Ralf Speth, the chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover, said: “Jaguar Land Rover is a business driven by design, technology and innovation and this investment and level of job creation is yet further evidence of our commitment to advancing the capability of the UK automotive sector and its supply chain.”
A critical feature of the investment is the construction of the brand new National Automotive Innovation Campus (NAIC) that should be ready to be opened in September 2014. It is said to be a collaborative research environment by Land Rover to create new technology and foster innovation in automotive manufacturing. Dr Wolfgang Epple, the director of Research and Technology at JLR said: “Our future sales success, the success of our global business – and the UK economy – lies in the engineering and innovation that will take place in NAIC.”
With these investments in developing new products, education and research, it shows JLR’s commitment to research and developing innovation at its finest. New investment should yield some fantastic results for Land Rover as the marque goes from strength to strength.
