The Mercedes S-Class S350 Bluetec has continued the fine tradition of S-Class excellence, picking up the prestigeous title of ‘luxury car of the year’ in the 2011 What Car? Car of the Year awards. Efficiency measures – such as “lightening” the chassis – have been taken to lower the S-Class’ carbon footprint down to just 177g/Km of CO2 and fuel consumption at 41.5 miles per gallon. But these efficiency measures have not been taken at the expense of performance as the S350’s 3.0-litre V6 engine with 235BHP will happily do 0-60 in just 7.1 seconds, with a torque of 620 Nm.
