Mercedes SLR Club in the Alps

Owning a Mercedes-Benz SLR is like being part of a secret club that no one else can let alone get a peek inside. This is why when the Mercedes SLR club decided to go to the Alps for its annual retreat, the pictures that surfaced from the getaway showed how incredible this car is. The drive to the Alps started in Geneva and it was around 500 km. This 500 km journey meant the club went through the Jura Mountains which in term led them through steep Alpine terrain that they had to manoeuvre.

This is not a trek for the faint hearted so club members are lucky that they have a solid supercar like the SLR to take them all the way to the final destination. It was a four day journey which saw them visit many chocolatiers to sustain themselves throughout the adventure. A passion for supercars is one thing but as this Alpine getaway proves, true love for the Mercedes SLR burns brightly as members will do anything to show off this car and what it can do.

Just imagine seeing a convoy of SLRs driving through your neighbourhood where you live. Now imagine this parade in the traditional Swiss Alps where seeing cows on the road and lush green fields is a normal sight. The contrast was breathtaking to look especially when you consider the types of SLRs that took part. There was the SLR McLaren Coupe, the 722 Edition and a 722 S Roadster. The now iconic SLR Stirling Moss was also part of the event which was definitely one of the most anticipated cars to see considering that it has no roof. The razor-sharp machinery of the SLR contrasted with the icy Alpine beauty to make this event one of the most memorable ones that the club has ever done.
