Paris is Home to More than Just this Years Rolls Royce Art Deco Collection

This year’s International Motor Show harked back to the Paris Exhibition of 1925 with the Art Deco trio presented by Roll Royce Bespoke.

Three unique cars were unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show encompassing the ability of the Bespoke team at Rolls Royce to take inspiration from time and place.  Almost a century ago, the enigmatic city was host to the 1925 Paris Exhibition at which the school of Art Deco became foremost revered for its style and attraction.

The luxury and elegance of Rolls Royce is a perfect match for the opulent yet understated glamour of the Art Deco movement.  Providing the perfect canvas, the epitome of Rolls Royce customisation, the Bespoke team, took three models and perfected them in the spirit of Art Deco.  Previewed before the Motor Show, the cars are based on the Ghost, Phantom, and Phantom Drophead.

Setting about distinguishing an already distinctive motor vehicle, the Bespoke team have included hand-crafted stainless-steel inlays, special edition stitched logos in the headrests, and ornamental glassware and a picnic table in the rear, designed in a geometric coachline motif.  They are all echoes of Art Deco styling cues.  An illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy lifts the look of the cars on the outside.  Different body colours are also available for the complete Art Deco appearance, namely Arabian Blue, Power Blue, Arctic White and Infinity Black.  In particular, the Ghost Special Edition is made eminent by two-tone bodywork outside, and an Olympia flourish on the interior, complete with four different colours available for seat piping.

On display for the rest of the Paris Motor Show, the cars will obviously be priced over the odds that one could expect to pay for a ‘standard’ Rolls Royce.  The Romance of this era is just as much to be found in the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead, more accessible through short-term hire.  This modern interpretation of the mode of the roaring Twenties lets the grace of the bygone age slip seamlessly over the contemporary presence of the Phantom, to result in the fabulous convertible that is the Drophead coupé.  Savour the elegance of the period through fabrics such as cashmere, full-grain leather and wood veneer.  Feel the finesse of a truly great motor too, with the 6.0 litre V12 providing effortless power and prestige on chauffeur drive hire.
