Porsche Macan interior/exterior

Signature-car-hire-porsche-macan-side-frontAt 4.68m long, 1.92m wide and 1.62m high, the Porsche Macan is something of an understated SUV. What this micro 4×4 doesn’t lack, however, is style and poise – something that sees it quite easily compete with its glamorous rival the Range Rover Evoque. Our gleaming white version is particularly striking, both in town and country.

Seen front-on, the Macan certainly has the ferocious look worthy of it’s ‘tiger’ etymology. The front air intakes are long and broad, and two bonnet indents, paired with wide staring headlights, complete the pared-back, angry look. As Porsche have stated, ‘the hood stretches through to the wheel arches…. a reminder of the legendary Porsche 917’.

The side profile reminds us that Porsche is first and foremost a sports car manufacturer. The Macan has the swept-back, aerodynamic contour that slopes determinedly towards the rear – what the marque calls ‘the Porsche flyline’. The definitive feature of the car’s side are the side blades on the bottom of the doors, which hark back to the 918 Spyder and make the doors look smaller than they are.

Finishing off the slew of homages that make up the Macan’s styling, the rear’s lower breadth is reminiscent of the classic 911, while the long, narrow LED taillights are again inspired by the 918 Spyder.

Inside, the snug interior features a high centre console crammed with controls, which also has the effect of decreasing the distance between the steering wheel (which is borrowed from the 918), gear selector and controls – similar to the configuration of any sportscar. The adjustable leather and Alcantara seats provide high levels of comfort, and with 500litres of boot space – or 1500 litres if you fold down the three rear seats – you’ve got more than enough space to pack for wherever your mood takes you.
