Porsche’s Worst Kept Secret

The Porsche 918 Spyder is nearly ready for roll-out.  A recent exposé showed just how production-ready is the car, due for release in 2014.

The forthcoming 918 Spyder is appearing more and more tangible with each leak.

Apart from being a new and exciting model, this car will also be a hybrid, and we learn new and interesting facts with each glimpse seen of the car.

The 918 appears lower than predecessors, and made from lightweight carbon-fibre, should prove to be a healthy competitor in the power-weight ratio stakes.  Its front end shows gaping air intakes and on the side perspective one can see the same alloy wheels from its unveiling at Geneva, to illustrate its sleek silhouette.

Under the bonnet, it is known that the 918 will be powered by a 562 bhp 4.6 litre V8 in tandem with a pair of electric motors, one on each axle, fed by a 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery bank.  Amazingly, the 0-62 sprint takes under three seconds.

Timing on the launch will see the Porsche take on the replacement car for the Enzo model from Ferrari, so we can expect even less secrecy prior to going on sale.  The 918 will also be available in a limited production run of the Martini Racing livery, so there is certainly no keeping this car’s light under a bushel.

We don’t keep our Porsche’s to ourselves however.  Sharing is the best way to demonstrate just what these cars are capable of.  Our two Boxster S models, in Carerra White or Cabriolet Black truly show off just why a Porsche was designed by a man who believed a car should be for everyone.

The first Porsche 918 Spyder is expected to roll off the production line in early 2014, about six months after its production run starts in September next year.  Our Porsche Carrera 911 S is available currently at our Experience Centre, so for those for whom patience is not a virtue, getting behind the wheel for immediate gratification is wholly endorsed.

When produced, the Porsche 918 Spyder should sell for about £678,000.  Whether you choose our Porsche 911 Turbo 997, Porsche Boxster S, or our Porsche 911 Carrera S the outlay pales into insignificance in comparison. So why wait to get behind the wheel of the 918 Spyder when you can hire one of our amazing Porsche’s on sales@signaturecarhire.co.uk.
