At Signature Car Hire we make extensive use of window tinting in our hire cars, it makes the cars look great of course, but it also offers many other benefits over non-tinted glass.
Much like wearing sunglasses, tinted windows protect the interior of the car and those within it from harmful UV radiation as well as reducing the glare of the sun coming through the window, making it much more comfortable to ride in. This also helps to keep the inside of the car cooler, which can prove especially helpful if you prefer a natural ambience to air conditioning or climate control.
Another obvious but very useful benefit of tinted windows is that provide enhanced privacy to those behind them, as a heavily tinted window can be very difficult to quickly see through. Because tinting is applied as a film over the window, it actually also provides security features when installed. For example, in the event of a crash the film contains the broken glass and this same feature makes the car more difficult to break into, as you cannot simply smash away the glass to access the vehicle.
Applying window film tints to a vehicle is actually quite a simple process, have a look at the pictures we took in our Experience Centre above which shows the application process. The film is cut to the size of the window and then laid on top and scraped down to remove bubbles that can form on the surface of the film.
