Special Edition to be Hallmark of Lamborghini

The uniqueness and individuality espoused by recent Lamborghinis seems set to endure.  More Limited Edition models could well come from Northern Italy in the future

The plans of Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann were made public at the recent Paris Motor Show.  Speaking from the French capital, he made clear his ambitions for the boutique-appeal of the marque to be expanded.

We will continue to invest in one-offs like the Aventador J, or like the technical demonstrators with a very limited number of cars, up to 20, like the Sesto Elemento’ he said.

Aficionados of the cars from the Emilia-Romagna region can look forward the fruits of the firm’s continued investment in bringing even more exclusive supercars in to being.

The Commercial Director at Lamborghini, Fintan Knight echoed Winkelmann’s sentiments, saying that ‘it’s both a tangible and intangible gain, because you can’t replace a car like the Sesto Elemento in the value it adds to the brand. Even today we see manufacturers showing chassis, which use the same carbon-fibre technology that we used two years ago when we presented the Sesto Elemento’.  The ability to lead the pack is certainly a competitive advantage that Lamborghini wish to possess.  Apart from demonstrating their technical and aesthetic prowess with the super-light 5.2 litre V10 supercar, Lamborghini was able to demonstrate the business case behind the model.  All 20 of the special edition car, were sold, at almost £1.5m each.

The legacy to the motoring world of such limited editions is clear.  Not only do they keep a wonderful marque like Lamborghini alive, but they give back new technological and design innovations as a legacy to the cars of the next generation.  The benefits of this can be easily seen in the recently-inaugurated assembly shop, the birthplace of these super-special race, track and show cars.

The Lamborghini Aventador is meanwhile quite possibly one of their most successful models ever, with respect to sales speed being almost as fast as the car itself.  With its entire first production run having been sold out in the first three weeks since its launch, the factory has now put an equal amount of pace into producing the cars.  This obviously gives them the cash flow they need to continue development of even-more unique cars, but also is a shining example of how the technology from these limited production runs can be incorporated into their more-available models.  The hexagonal architecture of the Aventador is certainly something we have seen more closely mirrored in the Sesto Elemento than in any other Lamborghini siblings.  Its angular yet agile silhouette, streamlined appearance and razor-sharp rear aspect is certainly an echo of this super-exclusive model.  Coming soon to self-drive hire, it is most likely to be the closest you can get to an exclusive supercar from Lamborghini on a short-term hire.
