Mercedes-Benz announced this week that they will extend their full-throttle AMG line-up with the birth of the C63 AMG Coupé’s little brother – the Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 Coupé. The second AMG model of the C-Class family, the C43 Coupé promises to walk the talk, concealing a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V5 petrol engine beneath its smaller framework.
The Return of the 43’s
All wrapped up until the highly anticipated Geneva Motor Show next week, the four-wheel drive C43 AMG is going to give out an astonishing 362 BHP, joining the Mercedes-Benz SLC43 in the lineup of models using a six-cylinder power engine; while the brand new marque has 141 BHP less than the C63 AMG Coupé, it leaves the turbo-charged 2.0-litre four-cylinder powered C300 Coupé far behind in any race. And that’s not the end of the good news – the C43 AMG Coupé will reach 0-62 MPH in under 5 seconds – in fact, just 0.7 seconds slower than its big brother, the C63 AMG Coupé.
Mercedes-AMG Chairman, Tobias Moers, comments: “The extension of the C-Class family to include the C 43 4Matic Coupe is another component in our growth strategy. It starts the introduction of a whole series of new 43 models.”
The Second AMG in the C-Family Makes a Stand
The Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 Coupé makes its own stand with features such as its own uniquely styled bumpers, grille insert, sills, trapezoidal shaped tail pipes and 18-inch wheels. Sit behind the wheel, and the interior includes an AMG instrument and graphics package, a flat bottom multi-function steering wheel and sport seats. Not to forget, this little number has a four-wheel drive up its wings, playing the Mercedes-Benz 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox into outputting many a throttle blip on downshifts and distributing drive to all four wheels, rather than just the rear.
