Yet More Thrilling News from Jaguar Land Rover

Every press release from Jaguar Land Rover is like a little automotive present, unwrap it and there’s always something exciting inside. This time it’s more news from SVO, Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division. They are preparing a special edition of the Range Rover Evoque, which will be tuned for potent performance and marked with the SVR badge.

Critics believe that the Range Rover Evoque SVR will rival the Porsche Macan Turbo and deliver around 400BHP. Although we’re eagerly awaiting the next incarnation of the Evoque, due to materialise around 2018, received wisdom points to the idea that the SVR modifications will first be applied to the current model.

A Land Rover spokesman revealed some of their plans to the Australian Motoring magazine: “Evoque runs for another three years and I’m not saying no to anything because the whole reason for Special Vehicle Operations is to take all these different [vehicle] families and actually do special versions on all of them. That’s the beauty of it.”

“We started with this [Range Rover Sport SVR] but it’ll work right through the Range Rover range, and through Discoverys and eventually Defenders. SVO is not about offering better, it’s about taking these vehicles and offering more choice. That can mean limited edition runs, to 150 units, down to one-off vehicles.”
