The Flying B looks set to adorn several shining examples of the Bentley brand. We can expect to see new models from the super-luxury marque every two years.
A brave new world vision has been shared from Bentley. The rebirth of the uber upmarket marque, since new ownership and investment flowed from the Volkswagen Group, sees big plans afoot which should deliver new models every other year. The intensifying of competition at the top end of the market, between BMW’s Rolls Royce and Daimler’s Maybach, lands us in the pound seats, with new Continental, Flying Spur, Mulsanne, and even the four-wheel drive SUV models on the cards.
These upgrades and new models are set to see the Continental family go from strength to strength. The new Flying Spur is one good example of this resemblance. It will share genes with the two-door Continental GT and GTC, and yet have inspired and individualistic styling and segmentation. One interesting departure is found in the engine variants available. A V8 as well as the hallmark W12 will differentiate the next generation. This increase in engine availability will enhance the handling of the new V8 models, with a lighter power unit meaning more dynamic and fleet-footed cars. The W12 will remain the benchmark when it comes to ultimate power.
Bentley has some particularly exciting developments afoot for the Continental GT, with more performance-oriented iterations in the pipeline. The new Chief Executive Officer, and head of design has commented that the stylistic language will also take on a new feel. David Hilton would like to see more of a departure than that produced by the recent GT and GTC models.
A further exciting arrival may take place when the 4×4 SUV, known as the EXP 9, gets the go-ahead from VW.
