New Porsche Cayman Uncovered in Los Angeles

The forthcoming Los Angeles Auto Show is the stage for a Porsche unveiling.  Courtesy of spy shots recently released, the new arrival is confirmed as the next iteration of the Cayman.

A warehouse in Atlanta may not be the most auspicious location for the début of a luxury German supercar, but that is just where the world has found its first glimpses of the next Porsche Cayman.

Porsche recently announced the unveiling of ‘a new compact sports car’ at the LA Auto Show due to start any day.  Whilst this may have been the worst kept secret of this year’s international motor show circuit, with speculation rife about the 2013 Cayman seeing the light of day, Porsche could not have hoped that this incident of industrial espionage would also dawn.

Spotted en-route to America’s western seaboard, the next generation Cayman can be seen undisguised at Porsche’s staging post in the South West.  It can thus be seen how the new model takes its cues, unsurprisingly, from the immensely-popular Boxster, its convertible counterpart.  Apart from the obvious roof configuration, the flair that helped the Boxster to a Design of the Year Award is present and correct.  The rear lip spoiler flowing into the rear light cluster is certainly on display.

The California-based show will certainly illuminate more of these exciting features, and we can look forward to learning more about the technical specifications as well.  The Boxster engines including the 2.7 litre flat six, and S-model 3.4 litre are expected to power this pocket rocket.  You can capture this feeling with a self-drive hire of the Porsche Cayman S.

310 bhp is the hallmark of the 3.4 litre engine and you can feel it when you drive the car.  Tame the personality of this athletic and forceful engine with the optimised braking system so that you can individualise your experience.  Of course, being a Porsche, it means that the inside and external look and feel is equally superb.
