Four Door Coupe for Bentley

Crewe-based Bentley is planning a four-door coupe, according to reports. Bentley has already confirmed that they will release an SUV to enter the extremely competitive luxury SUV market. The new four-door coupe is seen as a competitor to the CLS63 AMG from Mercedes-Benz and the M6 Gran Coupe from BMW.

The new coupe will have the MSB architecture from Porsche but it will be a Bentley through and through thanks to sheet metal and the interior. The platform of the car is made from aluminium and strong steel is also included. The coupe will be lighter than the Continental GT with experts predicting that around 450 kilos will be taken off. In terms of what engine will be offered, this could be anything from a 3 litre V6 and a 4.0 V8 engine.  Benefit of using Porsche’s architecture includes the all wheel drive and rear wheel drive features of the car.

The four door coupe will be a continuation of the success of the Continental GT but it will be marketed to drivers who are looking for more practicality in their luxury vehicles. Bentley are expecting up to 6,000 units a year to be sold if the car does well, and at least 3,000 units in the first year of its release. The SUV has already been signed off and in conjunction with this new coupe, this will position Bentley as a force to be reckoned with. Hard work continues for the marque as a limousine Mulsanne is also going to be unveiled around 2020 to compete with the Phantom from Rolls-Royce.
