Lamborghini 50th Anniversary Tour Finale

As covered in our last newsletter, Lamborghini really pulled out all the stops to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The piece de resistance in their year-long festivities was the recent 50th Anniversary Grand Giro – an epic rally through Lamborghini’s home country.

Signature Car Hire was delighted to take part in the Grande Giro with two of our Lamborghinis. For this particular event our Lamborghinis were wrapped and dropped to Milan on the 8th May for a four-day odyssey across Italy to prove what the raging bull’s cars can really do – with stunning results.

The tour consisted of 745 miles from Milan all the way back to where it all began, Sant’Agata Bolognese, the headquarters for Lamborghini. The cars that were used for the tour were past and present Lambos ranging from the Countach to the Miura. 350 Lamborghinis took part which also included 36 Murcielagos and 8 Espadas.

The tour started at the Sforzesco Castle and headed to the Forte del Marmi in Rome before culminating at the factory in the town of Sant’Agata Bolognese. It was an international mix of cars in the tour with the United States having 21 cars in the tour. Passionate fans even shipped their cars for the event from places like Singapore, Kuwait and Lebanon. This just goes to show the fierce passion that Lamborghini owners have for their cars and the marque itself. The euphoria that people involved in the tour felt when they arrived at Sant’Agata Bolognese where the Gallardos were the most well represented but there were plenty of Aventadors and Diablos peppered amongst the Lambos there. The tour finale was special for the legions of fans that turned up to see the Lamborghinis arrive at their final destination.

A gala dinner took place after the finish, and a new concept car, the Egoista, was also revealed to mark the occasion, taking Lamborghini’s design ideals to an aggressive new level. The carbon fibre and aluminium car is modelled on an Apache helicopter, and “meant to represent hedonism without any limits.” Created by the head of design at Volkswagen, the car has a 5.2 litre V10 engine that generates up to 600bhp, as well as an ejectable single seat cockpit – perfect for making a dramatic exit!

As Lamborghini’s Grand Giro suggests, these cars are excellent choices for an epic cross-country drive – why not try this for yourself by hiring one of our range for a weekend?  Our stunning Lambo line-up includes our 2 new Aventadors – which will certainly turn heads as you zoom through the countryside. Check out this video and you might spot two of our stunning Lamborghinis which took part of the event.
