Lamborghini’s Cabrera gets a name change

2015-Lamborghini-Huracan-front-three-quarters-02Gallardo fans, and indeed Lamborghini aficionados in general, will undoubtedly remember that the famous supercar marque has long been promising that a ‘Cabrera’ would shortly replace its much-loved Gallardo. Late last year, however, Lamborghini announced that the new car, which is due to be unveiled at Geneva next month, will now be called the Huracán.

This exotic-sounding name is perfect for a beast from the Lamborghini stable. Huracán was a 19th century bull that made the history books thanks to its tenacity, ferocity and hunger for the attack – sounds like a Lambo, doesn’t it?

Regardless of the name, the car is shaping up to far outshine the Gallardo. Weighing just 1,422kg, the car will do 0-62 MPH in a mere 3.2 seconds. Made of aluminium and carbon fibre, early photographs suggest that it borrows a lot of its styling from the Aventador, with all the gorgeously dangerous lines that entails.

We’ll bring you further updates on the Huracán as they become available, including when you can get your hands on this undoubtedly startling new vehicle through our car hire service – scheduled for later this autumn. In the meantime, however, check out www.hexagonproject.com, where you can get a sneak previews of the Huracán’s engine noise thanks to a virtual start-stop button.
