Mercedes-Maybach Pullman revealed

The word Pullman, to most, will conjure up images of the Pullman carriages found on old trains – luxurious railway dining cars that became synonymous with style and privilege. Perhaps with this in mind, Mercedes have created a car that’s almost the same size as a train carriage: the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman. Essentially, it’s the stretch limo version of our Mercedes-Maybach S Class, the car which is due to purr its way into our Experience Centre in the next few months.

10cm taller than the S-Class and more than four feet longer, the Pullman is a beast of a car. It also comes with an equally hefty price tag, which rises pretty steeply from the five hundred thousand euros base price if you want essential extras such as a bullet-proof body.

The usual luxurious details are on offer, including a Burmester stereo and 47cm monitor, while a glass partition separates you from the chauffeur and can be made opaque at any time.

Although it’s a fairly hefty car, with Mercedes as yet reluctant to reveal its full weight, the Pullman’s 6 litre V12 produces 530bhp and 613 ft lb of torque from 1900rpm. That should be enough to take you to whichever palace, high commission or small state you happen to preside over.

More details will be available nearer to the car’s release date in 2016, although we suspect they’ve had more than a few pre-orders already.
