Rolls-Royce and the Illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy

Rolls-Royce is iconic for many reasons but one of them has to be its trademark mascot. Officially called the Spirit of Ecstasy, this bonnet ornament is one of the most well recognised symbols of luxury motoring. It features a goddess-like figure leaning forward in a flying motion. The ornament is made from stainless steel which is polished and gleams brightly on various Rolls-Royce models like the Phantom.

Luckily for Rolls-Royce fans, the company is not changing the bonnet ornament at all. It is simply offering a stunning illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy that should have been on an electric version of a Rolls-Royce in the future. However, speculation is that this project has been shelved. That has not deterred Rolls-Royce from offering an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy emblem for the consumer production models of the marque.

The great news for Rolls-Royce fans is the ornament comes with plenty of options. The illuminated one can be retrofitted for customers who already have Rolls-Royces. It also can be ordered on new cars such as the popular Ghost and the Phantom.

Owners don’t have to worry about vandalism or the ornament being stolen because it can be retracted manually. It also automatically retracts when the car is parked. This lessens the opportunity for theft of the iconic emblem.

This option for customers shows the company’s commitment to personalisation in an age where luxury car companies compete fiercely for the attention of buyers. An illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy makes Rolls-Royce owners stand out even more. The company itself continues to glow after 100 years of manufacturing excellence.
