Whilst most were enthralled by the reunion of the Spice Girls, the cars that spirited the musicians around the stadium also received a good amount of attention.
A compendium of music and people and culture was presented at the Olympic Closing Ceremony. Of course what moved everybody the most were the two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles beneath everyone. Whilst some were kept under wraps, courtesy of mock-up newspaper, others were revealed in all their Olympic glory more readily.
The iconic London black taxi was featured heavily but contenders for gold medals were quite possibly the trio of Rolls Royce Phantom Series II Drophead Coupés.
Others in the wings included a Mini Countryman, Ford Corsair Convertible, VW Camper van, TVR, Lotus Elise, Jaguar XF, Ford Focus, BMW X5 and even an MG TC. Even scooters and a Reliant Regal van were part of the line-up.
Alfa Romeo and BMW, as official cars of UK Athletics and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, respectively, were also more apparent.
